MUSIC: NEW THIS YEAR!!! Do you have a mild case of
stage fright? We will be allowing up to
2 backup singers. Judging will be based
solely on contestant. Backup singers
will not be judged. You will need to
send a message to the Facebook page detailing song choices and if you are accompanying
yourself, acoustic instrument you are playing.
All other music tracks should be attached in a message to the Hurricane
Idol Facebook page. Search Hurricane
Idol. Be sure to like us! Please include the following: performers name, grade, song title, artist,
and any other pertinent information.
Music must be turned in by Feb. 25.
We ask that you send in 2 songs, one labeled “Preliminary night”, the
other labeled “Final Night”. All
contestants will have 90 seconds to perform the first night and 2 minutes the
second night. Music can have background
vocals only. Absolutely no
lip-syncing. No vocal-eliminated music
permitted. I-tunes and Amazon have a
karaoke section with songs available to download. Please no suggestive or crude lyrics. All music should be family friendly!
Dress Code and Props: Please adhere to Washington County School
District dress code. You will be allowed
one prop on stage with you.
Format: Each contestant will perform one number the
first night of competition. Your
performance will be judged by a panel of qualified judges on vocal talent and
presentation. The top three contestants
in each category will be invited back for the final competition. In addition, one other contestant from each
category will be invited to compete the final night based on donations made in
the contestants name to Grad Night 2016.
This finalist will be contacted Thursday afternoon by phone and posted
on the Facebook page. There will be two
awards given the final night of competition, a “Judge’s Choice” based on
judge’s scores, and a “People’s Choice” based on audience vote.
